Announcing the 2024 Women in Fisheries Mentorship Program!

The NYAFS Women in Fisheries Subcommittee is facilitating another year of the Mentorship Program. The program will run from spring to fall, 2024. We ask that participants dedicate at least six hours to meet over the course of the program. The subcommittee will facilitate the matching process, using the responses provided in the sign-up form. Meeting schedules and frequency will be agreed upon by the individual matches. Any Chapter members are welcome to participate. There are no gender requirements for participation, though the majority of participants are expected to be cis female. Please note that while we will do our best to find a suitable mentor/mentee for you, filling out this survey does not guarantee you will be matched.

You can sign up to participate here: https://forms.gle/gzMQPAvsitBf4Wqt8

Any questions can be directed to Stacy Furgal [email protected], Jo Johnson, [email protected], or Megan Kocher, [email protected].

**Participants in this program are expected to adhere to American Fisheries Society Standards of Professional Conduct and Meeting Codes of Conduct at all times.**

Our mission is to inspire and empower women and people from underrepresented genders to succeed in professional fisheries careers. We strive to foster an encouraging environment for our members to advance their professional development goals. We recognize that mentorship and peer networking are vital factors to career success. Therefore, a core component of our work is to enhance these opportunities within our chapter of the American Fisheries Society.
