Shad(s) Symposium NY Chapter – Northeast Division AFS Annual Meeting, Feb. 6-8, 2019

NY Chapter – Northeast Division AFS Annual Meeting, Feb. 6-8, 2019

Shad(s) Symposium

Co-Conveners: K. Limburg, D. Stich, G. Kenney

The anadromous alosine herrings (shads) once dominated East Coast rivers and estuaries, but are now in decline.  In particular, the American shad has become much less abundant, despite efforts to reduce fishing pressure and restore nursery habitats.  This symposium invites oral and poster presentations on the science and management of the East Coast shads, including American shad, hickory shad, and river herring, as well as shads of Europe.
