The NYC-AFS Native Fish Committee invites you to join NYSDEC Region 9 Fisheries on an Allegheny River rare fish sampling trip. The survey will be targeting darters with a combination of wadeable sampling gear and electrified benthic trawling (river flows permitting).
The dates are July 9-11, 2024 (with backup dates of August 27-29). Schedule will be a noon start on July 9, full day July 10, and half day on July 11. This is a great opportunity for you to see some new fish that occur nowhere else in NY and have some fun. Only items needed are waders, personal gear, and a good attitude.
If interested in participating or have questions, please email Scott ([email protected]). If interested in attending please RSVP by Tuesday, July 3rd. We will coordinate additional details further with those able to attend.
The Native Fish Committee intends to host a couple sampling trips per year. The goal of these trips will be to assist with gathering more information on rare fish species in need. As a community, together with a focused effort, we can make a difference in the conservation of rare fishes.
